Very Special Kids – Supporting families of seriously ill children.
Sadly, there are many children in Australia who are diagnosed with an illness that threatens their young lives. Their time is precious and their families treasure every moment with them. These families face many challenges and uncertain futures and that’s where Very Special Kids come in.
Very Special Kids is a unique Victorian not for profit organisation which aims to enhance the quality of life for these families, from diagnosis through to recovery or bereavement.
Support services include counselling, sibling support, bereavement support, trained family support volunteers and care at Very Special Kids House – Victoria’s only and Australia’s first hospice for children (providing respite and end-of-life care).
There are eight offices around the state to ensure families in regional, rural and outer suburban areas, can access our support.
It costs approximately $4 million per year to operate Very Special Kids. The organisation relies substantially on the generous support of the community and corporate partners to carry out it services which are offered free of charge to families.
