Proudly supporting Asthma Australia for World Asthma Day – 7 May

We're excited to share that thanks to the generosity of our donors across Victoria who shop at Ritchies, we've raised over $142,279.50 (as of the end of April 2024) for the Foundation since our partnership began in 1994.

Through Ritchies Stores' Community Benefit Card Scheme, customers have been able to nominate a percentage of their purchases to a proposed charity, school or community group.

This year, Asthma Australia are diving deep into the World Asthma Day theme of ‘Empowerment through education’

Asthma affects nearly 2.8 million Australians. Knowing more about it can help to reduce the 400 deaths each year because of asthma that we see in Australia. Learning about what can cause asthma flare-ups, what the signs are, and how to treat it can give people with asthma more control over their health and help them live.

This World Asthma Day, we encourage you to learn more about the condition that impacts nearly 2.8 million Australians. Visit to learn more.

So that Asthma Australia can keep educating people about asthma they are asking Aussies everywhere this World Asthma Day to Give A Tenner ($10) to Breathe Better.

Here’s what people with asthma have to say after speaking to the Asthma Educators at Asthma Australia.

“An Asthma Educator really changed my life. I have never in my life been more well than I am now, due to that call I made to Asthma Australia. Can’t recommend them highly enough. I learned more in that 40 minute chat than I have in my lifetime.”

“Asthma Australia help the community understand what asthma is. The services they provide are important, especially today when people are struggling to access healthcare services.  I can’t speak highly enough of them.”

“I am so glad I called you. If I hadn’t spoken to you 2 weeks ago, I would still be using my medications incorrectly and feeling unwell. Now I am feeling much better… This information and conversations has been very helpful.”
